Nathan Shook
Nathan has been practicing law since 2006. While Nathan has successfully represented clients in a number of different matters, his practice has largely focused on construction and real estate law, including commercial and residential sales. Other areas of practice have included general civil litigation, land use matters, probate and administration of wills and estates and estate litigation, and general corporate law including business formations.
Immediately following graduation from law school, and prior to entering into private practice, Nathan worked in-house with a mid-sized general contractor in the Hudson Valley region of New York, focusing on risk management and contract drafting and administration. In addition to his years of legal experience representing both general contractors and subcontractors, he had several years of hands on experience working in his family masonry business.
Nathan became a LEED® Accredited Professional in 2008 and earned a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS®) designation. He also graduated from the AGC of NYS Future Construction Leaders of America program in 2007. Nathan received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School and a BA in History from Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York (formerly Marist College). He is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in New York State and is a member of the Dutchess County Bar Association.
Nathan has been active in City of Poughkeepsie government, having served as the Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Secretary of the Industrial Development Agency and currently as the Vice Chairman of the Common Council.
